Droplets below 60 microns evaporate and drift away before reaching the target; droplets above 300 microns run off the leaf. Roughly half the applied volume never does any work.

Rotary atomisers produce a narrow, uniform droplet band, so nearly all of the applied volume lands where it is aimed.
